Quinnipiac Collects Fifth-Straight MAAC Women’s Tennis Crown
WEST WINDSOR, NJ – For the fifth-straight season, the Quinnipiac University women’s tennis team is the MAAC Women’s Tennis Champions. Quinnipiac has won the Women’s Tennis Title in all five seasons it has competed in the MAAC.
Quinnipiac (15-7) topped Marist College (10-8) 4-1 in the championships match on Sunday at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
The Bobcats clinched the title with wins at number one and number two singles that happened moments apart. Jennifer Lu secured the title with a 6-4, 6-2 at number two singles. That followed Dominique Vasile’s win at number one singles 6-3, 6-2. Lu topped Marist’s Chloe Lant, and Vasile bested Julia Gabay.
Courtney Nash claimed the first singles win at number six. Nash won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, over Amy Galloway.
The Red Foxes picked up a point when Sam Galu topped Proyfon Lohaphisan 6-1, 6-4 at number five singles.
Quinnipiac secured the doubles point when Alexandra Mircea and Layla Rodriguez won at number three doubles, 6-0, and Payton Bradley and Lu won at number one doubles 6-1.
