No. 18 Wagner Draws No. 12 UC San Diego in 2018 NCAA Water Polo Championship Play-In Game
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – For the second year in a row, Wagner College (24-6) is set to face No. 12 UC San Diego (24-11) in the NCAA Water Polo Championship play-in game as announced by the NCAA during the selection show on Monday evening. The play-in game takes place on Tuesday, May 8 at 10 p.m. (EST) at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center in Los Angeles, CA on the campus of the University of Southern California and will be streamed live

The Seahawks defeated the Tritons, 6-5, in last year’s play-in game, which marked their first national postseason victory. Wagner earned the leagues’ automatic bid to the NCAA Championship for the fifth-straight season. The Seahawks knocked off No. 23 Marist College (20-17), 10-7, to claim their fifth consecutive MAAC Championship on Sunday.
Six of Wagner’s eight MAAC Championship title game victories have come against Marist (2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2007). The eight MAAC Championships are a conference record. Since April 12, 2015, the Seahawks are 44-0 against league foes.
Wagner senior utility Kimberly Watson was named the 2018 MAAC Water Polo Offensive Player of the Year and earned the Championship MVP. Watson has received both of those honors each of the last two seasons. Head coach Chris Radmonovich was named the BSN Sports MAAC Coach of the Year for the third time in his tenure.
The winner of the play-in game advances to take on No. 1 USC on Friday, May 11, at 3 p.m. (EST) in the first round.
