The College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Google Cloud Academic All-District teams Thursday, and Canisius senior infielder Ryan Stekl was named to the first team.

The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

Stekl, who is coming off a solid five-game stretch where he recorded five hits, six RBI and a home run in a three-game sweep of St. Bonaventure last weekend, boasts a 3.79 grade point average as a health and wellness major.

The Lancaster, N.Y., native, is hitting at a .297 clip this season and is among the top statistical leaders in the MAAC, as he leads the conference in RBI (49) while ranking third in runs scored (40), walks (30) and home runs (9).

With Stekl's inclusion in the All-District team, he will now be eligible to be named a Google Cloud Academic All-American.

The Griffs will take on Manhattan May 12-13, as the squad looks to try and cement one of the top-two spots in heading into the 2018 MAAC Baseball Championship. After the three-game set with the Jaspers, the Blue and Gold is set to wrap-up the regular season May 17-18 at home with a three-game series against defending MAAC champion Marist.
