Five MAAC Softball Student-Athletes Earn Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-Region
EDISON, NJ – Five student-athletes from MAAC Softball were announced as members of the 2018 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District Team in Districts I and II.
Courtney Miller of Iona College, Brandi Coon from Marist College, and Lexi Courtney and Erin Larsen from Quinnipiac University were named All-Region in District I. Chloe Howerth of Monmouth University was named All-Region in District II.
All five student-athletes were members of the 2018 MAAC Softball All-Academic Team.
Miller, who made the team as an outfielder, appeared in 44 games and started 41 for Iona this season. The senior has scored 10 times and drove in six runs. In the classroom, Miller holds a 3.98 GPA while majoring in Speech Pathology.
Coon—a junior at Marist—majors in Software Development and owns a 3.97 GPA. Coon has appeared in 49 games this season for the Red Foxes and has made the Dean’s List in five of her completed semesters at Marist.
Courtney—a senior—is the catcher on the District I team and Larsen—a junior—makes it as an outfielder. Courtney is a Health Science major and sports a 3.71 GPA and hit .291 this season with seven doubles, three triples, two homers and 19 RBI. Larsen was the offensive leader for the Bobcats in every offensive category. Larsen majors in Civil Engineering and has a 3.92 GPA.
Howerth makes the District II team in the outfield. The senior was third on the Hawks in hitting at .305 and scored 38 runs. Howerth majors in Computer Science/Applied Computing at Monmouth and has earned a GPA if 3.79 in the classroom.
The Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
