Fairfield University's Courtney Hankins broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a two-out, two-run home run to left center to give Fairfield the 3-1 win. The Stags move on in the winner's bracket. Fairfield will face Monmouth at 11 a.m. Friday morning on ESPN .
Fairfield Notes
The homer was Hankins' eighth of the season. Hankins RBI total rises to 31.
Lauryn Rhinehart (9-5) threw a complete game and scattered seven hits.
Four other Stags plus Hankins had multi-hit games.
Kate Robinson drove in the first run for the Stags. That came in the first inning on a single to center field.
Marist Notes
Megan Beiermeister (13-10) took the loss after giving up three runs over 5.2 innings.
Courtney Page tied the game at one in the top of the second on an infield single to third.
The Red Foxes moved into the elimination bracket with the loss.

Amber Wozniak hit a pair of solo home runs as Monmouth won its opening game of the MAAC Championship 3-1 over Manhattan. Monmouth advances to play Fairfield in the winner's bracket tomorrow at 11 a.m. on ESPN .
Monmouth Notes
Wozniak moves into a tie for the team lead with eight round-trippers this season. Wozniak had two of Monmouth's three hits in the game.
Amanda Riley (19-5) moved into a tie for second place on the Monmouth single-season wins list. Riley struck out six and scattered four hits in the complete game.
Sam Tomasetti scored the Hawks first run in the bottom of the first.
Manhattan Notes
Manhattan moved into the elimination bracket to face Siena.
Nicole Williams (9-10) allowed only three hits over six innings. It was the eighth straight outing of allowing three hits or less.
Victoria Ross drove in the lone run for the Jaspers. That came on a single to left.

Number five Marist (26-31) scored three unearned runs in the top of the third, and that proved to be the difference. Iona (19-27) responded with a run in the bottom half but could not get another run across. The Red Foxes added two more in the fourth to advance to Friday in the elimination bracket against Manhattan at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN .
Marist Notes
Kourtney Paul and Casey Page drove in a run. Paul also scored twice
Nicole Teague (4-8) pitched a complete game three-hitter and induced 15 groundball outs.
Defensively, Caroline Baratta had 10 assists to bring her total to 155 this season, which is a new Marist's single-season record.
Iona College
Courtney Miller scored Iona's lone run.
Marnie Skinner (8-10) allowed two earned runs and scattered five hits over five innings of work.

Number five Manhattan College (28-24) fended off seven unanswered runs from number six Siena (18-26) to survive and advance in the elimination bracket on Wednesday afternoon. Manhattan advances to play Marist at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN .
Manhattan Notes
The Jaspers scored three runs in the first, two in the second, and three in the third.
Daniela Chiorazzi, Adriana Gambino, Briana Matazinsky, and Kat Prevo all had multi-hit games.
Christine Gebhardt and Lauren Pitney each crossed home twice.
Kayla McDermott picked up the win to improve to 8-3. Matazinsky picked up her first save of the season.
Siena Notes
Siena was down 8-0 after 2 innings before scoring seven unanswered. Siena scored four in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the seventh before leaving the bases loaded.
Madysen Cossack went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and two doubles.
Three different Saints scored twice- Isabelle DeChiaro, Lauren Sabihon, and Jess Volmer.
Brooke Hughes pitched five full innings in relief of both Lauren Butts, and Maddie McMahon. Butts (8-10) took the loss after allowing three runs over two-thirds of an inning to start the game.
