Quinnipiac Faces No. 10 South Carolina in First Round of 2018 NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament on Friday

COLUMBIA, SC – Quinnipiac University (15-7) is set to square off against No. 10 University of South Carolina (19-6) on Friday, May 11, at 2 p.m. The first round match will take place at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia, SC.
The match marks the fifth-straight year Quinnipiac will play in the NCAA Tournament and the first time they will face South Carolina. In previous years the Bobcats have faced Stanford (2014), North Carolina (2015), Miami (2016), and Texas Tech (2017) in the NCAA Tournament.
The winner of the match will move on to face the winner of University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the second round on Saturday, May 12, at 2 p.m.
Quinnipiac topped Marist 4-1 on April 26, to claim its fifth straight MAAC Women’s Tennis title. With the win, the Bobcats secured the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Bobcats’ Jennifer Lu was named MAAC Most Outstanding Performer.
The Bobcats swept MAAC Tennis postseason awards with Dominique Vasile unanimously named MAAC Player of the Year, as well as being named MAAC Rookie of the Year. Paula Miller took home MAAC Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in her tenure. A league-high eight student-athletes received All-MAAC honors.
