Monmouth Headed to Tennessee for NCAA Softball Regional

INDIANAPOLIS, INThe Monmouth University Hawks—the 2018 MAAC Softball Champions—are headed to the University of Tennessee for the Knoxville Regional in the 2018 NCAA Softball Championship. It is the first NCAA appearance for Monmouth.
 
Monmouth (32-14) will take on No. 10 national seed and host Tennessee on Friday, May 18 at 5:30 p.m. James Madison University out of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and Ohio University out of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) are the other two teams in the regional. James Madison and Ohio play at 3 p.m. o Friday.
 
The Hawks won the program’s first MAAC Championship by beating Fairfield University 5-1 on Saturday, May 12. Monmouth hosted the MAAC Championship after going 19-1 in league play, which is the best record in a 20-game MAAC schedule. The Hawks have also won 24 of their last 25 games and were a perfect 14-0 at home.
 
Senior Amanda Riley was named MAAC Pitcher of the Year and First Team All-MAAC. Riley picked up all three wins the Hawks needed to secure the MAAC Championship--named MVP. Head coach Shannon Salsburg, who is in her third season at the helm, was named MAAC Coach of the Year.
 
Friday’s doubleheader from Knoxville will be streamed on ESPN3.
