Seven from MAAC Softball Named NFCA All-Region

LOUISVILLE, KY - Seven student-athletes from MAAC Softball were named All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Thursday.

Monmouth University's duo of Katie Baron-designated player-and Amanda Riley-pitcher-were named First and Second Team All-Great Lakes Region respectively. Ali Milam-outfield -from Marist College was named Second Team All-Northeast Region. Manhattan College's Briana Matazinsky-utility-and Lauren Pitney-second base-were named Second and Third Team All-Northeast respectively. Fairfield University's pair of Courtney Hankins-third base-and Destinee Pallotto-pitcher-were named Third Team All-Northeast.

Baron and Riley helped Monmouth win the MAAC Regular Season and Championship Titles. Both were named First Team All-MAAC as well. Riley was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Year. The Hawks open the NCAA Championship on Friday at Tennessee.

Milam was a First Team All-MAAC performer in 2018. The sophomore tied the Marist single-season record of 54 RBI and led the Red Foxes in RBI, batting average (.355), home runs (11), total bases (103), on-base percentage (.443) and slugging percentage (.599).

Matazinsky and Pitney helped Manhattan reach the MAAC Championship. Matazinsky was a unanimous First Team All-MAAC selection at utility. Matazinsky led the team in hitting (.342) and ERA (2.27). Pitney earned Second Team All-MAAC on the infield. Pitney led the Jaspers in homers (9) and RBI (25).

Hankins was the MAAC Player of the Year and unanimous First Team All-MAAC selection. In league play Hankins hit .491, which led the league, led in on-base percentage at .595, in slugging at .818, and tied for the league lead with 45 total bases. Pallotto was named to the Second Team All-MAAC and went 14-9 overall this season with a 2.96 ERA.
