Marist Earns MAAC Rowing Weekly Honors

Varsity 8 Boat of the Week

Marist Varsity Eight won against Colgate this past weekend at the Ithaca Invite. The women got off the line quickly and established an early lead to beat the Raiders by 6 seconds in a time of 6:52.01. The crew consisted of Isabelle Koch, Selena Mildon, Clodagh Deasy, Sydney Ford, Marie Ryden, Caroline Withers, Abbey Gragg, Elisabeth Kamm, and Kelsi Cottrell. In a grand final, The 1V had an opportunity to race a very fast crew from Ithaca who had won their race against Hamilton in a time of 6:38 earlier in the day. Getting off the line cleanly, the 1V maintained contact with Ithaca the entire race but came up 4.1 seconds short in a great race against a strong crew. The Marist Crew completed the course in 6:37.5 behind Ithaca's time of 6:33.4.

Second Varsity 8 Boat of the Week

The women's second varisty eight also won a dual against Colgate. A strong race for the crew gave them the lead from start and they were able to expand their lead throughout the 2000m race. They finished 20 seconds ahead of Colgate in a time of 7:15.9. This crew consisted of Caitlin Green, Bernadette Winby, Eliza Hartford, Kate Beebe, Kerriann Ernenwein, Shawna Gilson, Elizabeth Colby, Caroline Defrancesco, and Maddy Gragg. The 2V raced Ithaca in the grand final, the winner of a close morning heat with Hamilton. The Marist women got off the line a little behind Ithaca but were able to fight back and take the lead to win the race by 3.4 seconds in a time of 7:03.1.

Varsity 4 Boat of the Week

Going head-to-head with Colgate, the Marist Varsity Four also won their race. Marist took a commanding lead and finished 31 seconds ahead of their competition in a time of 7:55.16. The V4 included Emma Trammell, Morgan Zuch, Sara Barker, Ali Mattoch, and Jasmine Miller.
