Fairfield Draws No. 8 Loyola in First Round of NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship

EDISON, NJ – The Fairfield University Stags will travel to eighth-seeded Loyola University Maryland Greyhounds for a first-round matchup in the 2018 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
 
The matchup will take play on Friday, May 11 in Baltimore, Maryland. It will be the first meeting between Fairfield and Loyola.
 
Fairfield (13-6) claimed the MAAC’s automatic berth by its 14-10 win over Canisius College in the MAAC Championship Game on Saturday. The Stags make their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament and first since 2015. Kathleen Hulseman was named Most Valuable Player of the 2018 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship. 
 
The Stags were the last team from the MAAC to record a win in the NCAA Tournament. That came back in 2009 against Sacred Heart.
 
Loyola (15-4) earned an at-large selection out of the Patriot League. The Greyhounds fell to Navy in the Patriot League Championship Game 17-10.  
 
The winner of the Fairfield and Loyola matchup takes on the winner of Navy and Johns Hopkins.
