Di Domizio Named To CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – Iona lacrosse senior Gabriella Di Domizio became the third-ever Iona student-athlete and first since 2009 to be voted to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Division I First Team. She is also the first member of the Iona Lacrosse program and one of ten Iona student-athletes ever to receive All-America honors. Di Domizio is the second member of the Maroon & Gold in as many years to receive All-America recognition with Cassandra Gill of cross country / track and field being honored last year.
 
Di Domizio, an American Chemical Society (ACS) major, is a two-time CoSIDA All-District First Team selection and three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. She is also a member of Gamma Sigma Epsilon chemistry and Delta Epsilon Sigma national honor societies.
 
On the field, Di Domizio was a 2018 All-MAAC First Team selection for the first time in her career and ranked second in NCAA Division I in caused turnovers per game (2.94). At the 2018 Iona College Senior Awards Banquet, she was the female recipient the Joseph E. O'Connell Award that recognized Iona's most outstanding senior student-athlete. On June 2nd, Di Domizio participated in the IWLCA 2018 North/South Senior All-Star game.

She will go down as one of Iona's all-time best defenders, holding program records in games played (70), caused turnovers (128), caused turnovers per game (1.83), caused turnovers in a single-season (53), most caused turnovers in a single game (7), and is eighth in ground balls (49).
