Verrastro & Prunty Named Pepsi MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Georgia Verrastro

Verrastro served as the team captain and played in 42 games for the Peacocks in 2018 as a catcher. She drew a team-best 41 walks and ranked third in runs scored and stolen bases. Verrastro’s hard work and dedication led to her winning the Female Iron Peacock award at the annual Student-Athlete Awards Banquet. In the classroom, she boasted the highest grade point average on her squad with a GPA above a 3.9, leading to a spot on the MAAC All-Academic team.  
 
This summer, Verrastro has been doing volunteer work with Penn State THON, an organization that raises money for children with pediatric cancer, and she will also be volunteering at the third annual Shane Rivenburgh Memorial Big Ball Classic in July, an event in memory of a local baseball star who was killed in a motorcycle accident in April 2016.

Brian Prunty

Prunty appeared in all 12 games for the Saints this spring, making 10 starts. The midfielder ranked tied for third on the team with 21 points in recording his third consecutive 20-plus point season. A 2016 Second Team All-MAAC selection, Prunty finished with 65 points for his career on the strength of 54 goals including 13 man-up tallies. Prunty graduated from Siena College this spring with his degree in economics. He achieved a 3.16 cumulative GPA, and was named to both the MAAC All-Academic Team and Academic Honor Roll in 2017.
