Taveras and Matazinsky Claim Pepsi MAAC Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

Rising junior infielder Randy Taveras led the Red Foxes with a .308 batting average with 49 hits and 21 RBIs in 159 at bats this past season. Taveras also led the team with 14 stolen bases on 17 attempts. Taveras hit .325 in conference with a team-high .506 slugging percentage. Taveras, a 2018 MAAC All-Academic Team selection, is a Business Administration major and was just named the Marist Center for Student-Athlete Enhancement's Student-Athlete of the Month for May.

Briana Matazinsky (Valley Falls, NY / Tamarac), a 2018 All-MAAC First Team selection, was also named to the NFCA's 2018 Northeast Region Second Team as a utility player and pitcher. A 2018 All-MAAC Tournament Team selection, she led the Jaspers in batting average (.342) this season, while also holding the team's lowest ERA at 2.27. Matazinsky earned the team's second-highest number of RBIs this season (28) in 155 at bats, hitting 11 doubles, one triple, and four home runs. In the field, she had 40 putouts and 54 assists with just three errors, for an overall fielding percentage of .969.
Matazinsky, who graduated in May with a degree in Allied Health Science, was named a MAAC All-Academic Team selection earlier this year.
