Elyse Schlump Joins Women's Basketball Staff After Five Years At Skidmore

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's basketball program has announced the hiring of Elyse Schlump as its new director of basketball operations. Schlump was previously the associate head coach at Skidmore College for the past five seasons.

"We're very excited to add Elyse to the staff," said head coach Brian Giorgis. "It's great to get a quality experienced coach like Elyse who is an even better person. We're fortunate to be able to have her in our program."

While at Skidmore, Schlump was a member of the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year twice along with helping guide the team to regular season Liberty League Championships in 2017 and 2018. Schlump also helped coach the team to two Liberty League Conference Tournament Championships and two NCAA Tournament Appearances in 2015 and 2018. Schlump coached six All-Liberty League players including the first ever three-time Liberty League Player of the Year.

Prior to Skidmore, Schlump was a graduate assistant at Concordia University-Ann Arbor. As a grad assistant, Concordia held a 54-13 overall record and won two regular season Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference titles. As a player at Concordia, Schlump was a two-year captain and helped lead the team to its first ever NAIA DII National Tournament appearance in 2011. Schlump graduated from CUAA in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education and is originally from Cedar Springs, Michigan.

"I'm thankful for this opportunity to join a great program such as Marist," said Schlump. "I'm excited to get started and I look forward to working with this group."

Schlump succeeds former Marist standout Eileen Van Horn in the position. Schlump's responsibilities on staff will include game film, administrative duties and technology-based initiatives.
