Gulley and Kiernan Named Pepsi MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Amelia Gulley
Niagara University
Women’s Soccer
 
Amelia Gulley has seen action in over 60 games for the Purple Eagles playing as a center back and holding midfielder. Gulley was named to the All-MAAC Second Team as a freshman and sophomore, but missed the majority of her junior season due to injury. After redshirting for the 2016 season, she returned to play in 16 games in 2017. This season, Gulley has started in every game and is a captain for a second straight year. She is a three-time member of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and a two-time MAAC Academic Team selection. Gulley, a native of Hemel, England, has already earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management and is currently pursuing an MBA in Marketing.
 
Michael Kiernan
Quinnipiac University
Men’s Cross Country
 
Kiernan finished second overall this past weekend at the Siena Invitational, running the 8K course in 25:35.7 and guiding Quinnipiac to a third-place team finish. His second-place finish was the best by a Quinnipiac men’s cross country runner since the beginning of the 2016 season. Earlier this season, Kiernan finished eighth at the Stony Brook Cross Country Season Opener with a personal record time of 18:49.6 on the 6K course. Kiernan is a business major who was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team as a sophomore last season.
