Siena's Van Schepen Taken in NLL Draft by Rochester KnightHawks
Former Siena Men's Lacrosse standout Luke Van Schepen '18 was drafted with the 16
th overall selection by the Rochester KnightHawks in the 2019 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft Tuesday evening.
Van Schepen was the second selection by the franchise, as they selected former Providence College defenseman James Barclay with the ninth overall selection.
The lefty defenseman completed his college career in the spring of 2018. With the Saints, he collected six goals, 77 ground balls in 52 games. He also received MAAC All-Academic Team honors his final three seasons. As a freshman, Van Schepen was a MAAC Academic Honor Roll selection. He finished his career with 37 caused turnovers, which tied him for fifth all-time in school history.
Van Schepen just completed his first season of Senior "A" ball with the Brampton Excelsiors. The Brampton, Ontario, native spent the previous five seasons with the Junior "A" Excelsiors, where he posted 32 points (9 goals, 23 assists) in 89 games.
Luke's younger brother, Seth, is expected to take the field for the Saints as a freshman in the spring of 2019.
