Iona’s Archibald & Paolucci and Rider’s Sher Pick Up MAAC Volleyball Weekly Honors
Player of the Week
Claire Archibald, Iona
Sr., Coto de Caza, CA/ Santa Margarita Catholic
Senior Claire Archibald led Iona to a 1-1 weekend. The Gaels fell to UConn in four sets and then bested New Hampshire in five. Archibald finished the weekend averaging a 3.67 kills per set and 3.67 digs per set average. She extended her streak of doubles-doubles to five with 11 kills and 11 digs against the Huskies and then a massive 22 kill and 22 dig effort against the Wildcats.
Libero of the Week
Jessica Paolucci, Iona
R-Jr., Lake Mary, FL/Lake Mary
Jessica Paoluci was named to the UConn Challenge All-Tournament team for her efforts as Libero. She had 63 digs in the tournament, including a team-best 28 versus UConn and 35 against New Hampshire.
Rookie of the Week
Anilee Sher, Rider
Fr., Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill
Freshman setter Anilee Sher started her collegiate career with a trio of impressive performances at the Crosstown Tournament hosted by Lafayette and Lehigh. Sher averaged 9.40 assists per set and 2.30 digs per set as Rider went 1-2. In her collegiate debut, she had 24 assists and nine digs against Lehigh. Her best performance of the opening weekend came in a five-set win against Lafayette. Sher dished out 55 assists to go along with one kill, two service aces, nine digs, and three block assists.
