Iona’s Courtenay & Canisius’s Quinn named MAAC Runners of the week
Men’s Runner of the Week:
Matthew Courtenay, Iona
Fr., Barrie, Ontario/Bear Creek
Matthew Courtenay won the 6K Marist Season Opener. He led a trio of Iona runners who placed first, second, and third. Courtenay finished the 6K race in 19:31.3, averaging a 5:11.4 mile. The Gaels raced against fellow MAAC foes Marist and Siena.
Women’s Runner of the Week:
Siobhan Quinn, Canisius
Sr., Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta
The senior Quinn took home her fourth consecutive Little Three individual title this past weekend, becoming the first ever female student-athlete to achieve such a feat in the history of the event. The senior crossed the line in 17:50.35, finishing a half minute faster than the second-place runner.
