Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Sr., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Senior Justin Carey was dominant over the weekend for the Rider University men’s swimming and diving team. Carey won four individual events at the Rutgers Preseason Tune-Up. In a meet featuring swimmers from Seton Hall and Princeton, Carey won the 200 IM with a time of 1:53:92. He also finished first overall in the 100 fly (49.17), 100 back (49.25) and the 100 free (45.90).
 
Men’s Diver of the Week
Dillon Walles, Rider
Jr., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Junior Dillion Walles continued his strong start to the season for the Rider University men’s swimming and diving team last week at the Rutgers Preseason Tune-Up. For the second straight meet, Walles won both the 1M and 3M diving. In a meet featuring divers from Seton Hall and Princeton, Walles recorded a score of 290.40 in the 3M and he had a total score of 273.70 in the 1M.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Dana Bender, Canisius
Jr., Hamburg, NY/ Hamburg
Junior transfer Dana Bender placed first in all three of her events on Friday night against Rochester. The Hamburg native was able to tally 29 points for Canisius to give the Griffs a 193-102 victory over Rochester. She placed first in the 400-Yard Medley Relay (4:04:43), first in the 50-Yard Backstroke (27:98), and first in the 100-Yard Backstroke (1:01:07).
 
Women’s Diver of the Week
Gianna Cornelia, Canisius
Jr., Lindenhurst, NY/ Lindenhurst
Senior Gianna Cornelia earned two first-place finishes, scoring 226.56 in the 1-meter and a 241.57 in the 3-meter, to help secure the Canisius women’s swimming and diving team a victory over Rochester on Friday night.
