Copetti, Coulson and Mazzola Named Wilson MAAC Men’s Soccer Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Tom Coulson, Saint Peter’s
Jr., Manchester, England/Woodhey High School
Coulson had his best game of the season on Saturday, recording two goals in the Peacocks' 3-1 win over Iona. The junior scored the game-winner during the 75th minute of the match against the Gaels, heading in a free kick from teammate Jamie Davis. The Manchester-native would go on to seal the game for Saint Peter's after firing in a free kick from about 25 yards out in the 83rd minute of the match. Coulson's four-point effort is his best performance of the season, and helped the Peacocks maintain their No. 1 spot in the conference.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jared Mazzola, Quinnipiac
Jr., Katonah, NY/Somers
Mazzola recorded two more shutouts this weekend for the Bobcats, making five total stops. The junior goalkeeper delivered a clean sheet for 110 minutes at Niagara on Wednesday, then made three stops in the Bobcats' win over Canisius on Saturday at home.
Rookie of the Week
Stefan Copetti, Marist
Fr., Toronto, Ontario/Chaminade
Copetti recorded a goal and two assists for the week. He assisted on both goals in the 2-1 win over Fairfield, and then scored in the 3-2 win over Manhattan to help Marist to an undefeated week.
