Freshmen Take Home MAAC Volleyball Weekly Awards
Player/Rookie of the Week
Morgan Romano, Rider

Freshman Morgan Romano continued to be a force for the Rider University volleyball team last week in a pair of road MAAC wins. Romano averaged a double-double (17.5 kills & 12 digs) as well as 5.00 kills per set, 3.43 digs per set and 5.86 points per set in wins over Marist and Siena. She opened the week with 21 kills, seven digs, three block assists and two service aces in a three-set win at Marist. Romano followed that up with her team-leading eighth double-double of the year thanks to a 14-kill, 17-dig performance in a four-set win at Siena. She also racked up three block assists against the Saints. Romano leads the MAAC and ranks in the top-five in the country in total points (459.0) and total kills (405). She is the first Bronc with over 400 kills since 2004.
Libero of the Week
Sophia Theriot, Marist
Fr., Carlsbad, CA/La Costa Canyon
Theriot has won Libero of the Week for the past two weeks, and this week was no different for the freshman out of California. She dominated and helped anchor the Red Fox defense for both matches again this weekend. In a 3-1 victory over Saint Peter's, Theriot had a match-high 26 digs and added seven assists. She had a perfect 1.000 reception percentage on 22 attempts, also adding two service aces. In total for the week, Theriot had 40 digs resulting to 20 per match and 5.71 per set. The Carlsbad, California native also had 11 assists, two service aces, and a .955 reception percentage.
