Fairfield’s Jones, Rider’s Carbonell, and Siena’s Monds Named Wilson MAAC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week
Defensive Player of the Week
Carmen Carbonell, Rider
Jr., Valencia, Spain/Guadalaviar School
Carbonell posted her fourth and fifth shutouts of the year as the Broncs remain unbeaten in league play (3-0-1). She tallied four saves each in the Bronc’s wins over Niagara and Marist.
Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Jayanna Monds, Siena
Jr., Syracuse, NY/Westhill
Monds tallied three points and factored in both game-winning goals in a 2-0 week for the Saints. On Wednesday, she scored in the 77th minute to complete a late second half comeback in a 2-1 win over Canisius. Then, on Saturday, she served in the assist on Ashleigh Sarafin's golden goal in the 93rd minute of the first overtime period as the Saints' rallied again for a 2-1 win at Iona.
Co-Offensive Player & Rookie of the Week
Brooke Jones, Fairfield
Fr., Duxbury, MA/Duxbury
Jones scored in both of Fairfield's wins this week, helping the Stags to their first 3-0 start in the MAAC in five years. Jones led the Stags with five points on the game-winner at Canisius and a goal and an assist at Saint Peter's.
