Niagara’s Roberts and Wright, Rider’s Romano Collect Weekly Volleyball Awards
Player of the Week
Jaycie Roberts, Niagara
Jr., Carson City, NV/Carson City High School
Roberts had another great week for the Purple Eagles, helping the team to two wins. Against Rider on Saturday, Roberts recorded a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs. In a sweep of Saint Peter's on Sunday, she recorded her sixth straight double-double with 13 kills and 15 digs. She leads NU in double-doubles with nine on the season so far. On the week, she averaged 4.29 kills per set and 4.29 digs per set.
Libero of the Week
Emillie Wright, Niagara
Sr., Tustin, CA/Mater Dei High School
In a win against Rider on Saturday, Wright had a career-high 32 digs. She also had two service aces and added four assists. In a sweep of Saint Peter's on Saturday, she had 12 digs. On the weekend, she led the Purple Eagles with 6.29 digs per set and had a team-high three service aces.
Rookie of the Week
Morgan Romano, Rider
Fr., Oviedo, FL/Hagerty
Romano continued to pace the Rider offensive attack last week in a pair of road conference matches. On the week, she averaged, 4.44 kills per set, 5.17 points per set, 2.11 digs per set and she also recorded her sixth double-double of the year. Against Niagara, Romano had 16 kills, two service aces and 14 digs in a four-set match. She followed that up with 24 kills, two service aces, five digs and five block assists in a five-set thriller with Canisius. Romano currently leads the MAAC in total kills (313), kills per set (4.54), total points (356) and points per set (5.16). She also ranks second in the NCAA in total points.
