Monmouth to Play Brown in 2019 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship
EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 11, 2019) – Monmouth University (14-2-2, 10-0-0 MAAC) is set to head to Providence, Rhode Island to take on Brown University (14-1-2, 6-0-1 Ivy) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. The First Round matchup will take place Saturday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. in Providence, Rhode Island.
This marks the seventh NCAA Championship appearance for the Hawks in program history (2007, 2009, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). The Hawks played third seeded University of Virginia in last year’s championship, falling 2-0.
The Hawks are coming off the school’s fourth straight MAAC Championship, defeating Fairfield University 6-0 in yesterday’s final. Eight different Hawks made their way onto the scoresheet in the game, led by Lexie Palladino with a goal and two assists and Lauren Karabin and Madie Gibson with two goals apiece. th shutout of the season. Sarina Jones was named the Championship’s Most Outstanding Player, joining teammates Jill Conklin, Lauren Karabin, and Jess Johnson on the All-Championship Team.
The Bears won the Ivy League title outright on Saturday, tying with Yale University 1-1. The Bears finished undefeated in Ivy League play for the ninth game in program history. The title was Brown’s 13
th title all time and first since 1994.
