Rider’s Johnson and Niagara’s Brisker Claim First Pepsi Zero MAAC Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards of 2019-20 Season

Player of the Week
Stella Johnson, Rider
Sr., Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic
Senior guard Stella Johnson had a monster week to start the season as Rider went 1-1 in non-conference play. Johnson averaged 23.5 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game. She hit 18-of-22 from the free-throw line and shot over 36 percent from the field. In the season opener against Princeton, she scored 22 points on 8-of-19 shooting. In a 78-70 win over Penn State, Johnson had 25 points, five rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks. She also made a career-high 14 free throws in the victory over the Nittany Lions. She also tied the program record with 254 career steals on Sunday at Penn State.
 
Rookie of the Week
Adia Brisker, Niagara
Fr., Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills
In her collegiate debut against St. Bonaventure, Brisker had a team-high nine rebounds while also adding seven points and going a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Against Buffalo on Saturday, Brisker scored a career-high 12 points and had five rebounds. On the week, she averaged 9.5 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game and 3.5 assists per game.
