EDISON, N.J. (Nov. 15, 2019) – Monmouth University (14-2-2, 10-0-0 MAAC) will look to improve on its record-breaking season when the team heads to Providence, Rhode Island to take on Brown University (14-1-2, 6-0-1 Ivy League) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament. Game time is set for Saturday, Nov. 16 at 12:30 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field and will be available to watch on ESPN3.

The Hawks are the first team in MAAC history to finish 10-0-0 in conference play, collecting their fourth straight MAAC Championship this past weekend. The Bears make their first trip to the NCAA Championship since 1994, winning the Ivy League title without a loss to conference opponents. The two teams have met twice in the past, both times in Providence, with Brown collecting both wins by a score of 2-1. Monmouth’s all-time record against Ivy League opponents is 18-19-2.

Headlining Saturday’s action are the Monmouth and Brown goalkeepers, who both rank in the top-five in the nation in save percentage. Monmouth’s Amanda Knaub, the 2019 MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year, boasts a .917 save percentage, good for third on the NCAA’s list. Brown’s Kayla Thompson ranks tied for fourth with a .900 save percentage. Knaub also sits atop the entire NCAA with 14 shutouts on the season.

The game marks the seventh NCAA Championship appearance for both Monmouth and Brown. The Hawks are looking to advance into the second round for the first time in school history, while the Bears will look to do so for the first time since 1994. Brown posts an all-time record of 2-6 in postseason NCAA competition. The winner of Saturday’s contest will move on to play either Florida State (15-5-0, 8-2 ACC) or South Alabama (16-3-2, 8-1-1 Sun Belt).
