Iona Men’s Cross Country and Morenaite to Compete in NCAA Cross Country Championships
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 16, 2019) - For the 18th straight year, the Iona College Gaels men's cross country team will represent the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at the NCAA Championship next weekend in Terre Haute, Indiana following a third-place finish at the regional meet in Buffalo yesterday afternoon. Iona’s women cross country will be represented by junior Egle Morenaite who had a strong showing at the NCAA Northeast Regional 6k race with a fifth-place finish time of 19:34.2.
The Gaels finished with a team score of 96 behind No. 18 Syracuse University with a score of 86, and first-time winner Harvard University with a score of 59. The Gaels were led by John Millar with an eighth-place finish with a 10k time of 29:02. Iona’s top-seven roster for the NCAA Northeast Regional was Millar, Ehab El-Sandali, Jack O’Leary, Ed Goddard, Jamie Dee, Jordan Brannan, and Joshua DeSouza.
This will be the third-straight individual NCAA Cross Country appearance by Iona junior Egle Morenaite. At last year’s championship, Morenaite finished 158
th in the women’s 6k race with a time of 21:08.8
This will be the thirteenth NCAA Cross Country Championship hosted by Indiana State University.

The 2019 NCAA DI Cross Country Championships will take place on Nov. 23 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women’s 6k race will begin at 11:15 a.m. Eastern time. The men’s 10k race will follow at 12:15 p.m. Eastern time.
