The top seeded Fairfield Stags (22-5, 17-1) rode a 19-match winning streak throughout most of the season, before collecting the team’s first loss to a conference opponent this weekend against Canisius. The Stags claimed the No. 1 seed on Nov. 9 with a 3-1 win over Rider. As the top seed, the Stags will receive a first round bye and start the team’s journey for an eleventh MAAC Championship on Nov. 23 against the Game Two winner at 2:00 p.m. The Stags fell in last year’s championship to top seed and eventual champions Iona College in the semifinals as the No. 4 seed.

The Canisius Golden Griffins (15-15, 12-6) claimed the No. 2 seed and will also receive a first round bye, playing the Game One winner on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The Golden Griffins entered the 2019 season as the favorites to win it all after coming up just short in last year’s championship. Canisius broke a four-way tie with Marist, Niagara, and Rider, with all teams finishing at 12-6 in conference play. Preseason Player of the Year Leah Simmons leads the Griffs, who will look to collect the school’s first ever MAAC Championship.

First round action begins on Nov. 22 with No. 3 Rider (15-15, 12-6) taking on No. 6 Quinnipiac (12-15, 8-10) at 5:00 p.m. The Broncs won both matchups this season without giving up a single game to the Bobcats. Both programs feature new coaches at the helm, with Jeff Rotondo leading the Broncs and Kyle Robinson leading the Bobcats.

No. 4 Marist (14-14, 12-6) will play No. 5 Niagara (13-15, 12-6) at 8:00 p.m. that Friday. Marist took both matches in the season series, winning 3-0 and 3-2. The last time the two teams met in the MAAC Championship was 2015, where the Red Foxes finished with the advantage in the semifinal matchup. The Red Foxes have made the MAAC Championship game four times, but have yet to claim a title. The Purple Eagles have three MAAC Championships to their name, winning three-straight years from 2009 to 2011.
