TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Iona College men's soccer team is receiving votes in the College Soccer News' Top 30 National Poll. The Gaels prevailed in overtime over Saint Peter's in the 2019 MAAC Championship on Sunday, winning the program's first conference title.
Junior Josh Plimpton was also recognized, earning a spot on the College Soccer News' National Team of the Week. The junior scored in all three of Iona's postseason games, including the game-tying goal in the final, and was honored as the MAAC Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
Sophomore Mauro Bravo was honored on TopDrawerSoccer's Men's Team of the Week for November 11-17. Bravo scored twice in Iona's 3-2 MAAC Championship win, including the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining in the first overtime.
Iona will play at Maryland in the opening round of the College Cup on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m.; the Terrapins are slotted in at the number 28 spot in College Soccer News' Top 30 National Poll. The winner of that game would advance and play No. 4 Wake Forest in the next round.
