MAAC Announces Final Volleyball Weekly Awards of 2019
Player of the Week
Megan Fergus, Marist
Sr., Millbrook, NY/Millbrook
Fergus closed out her senior campaign with another absolutely dominant performance, helping lead Marist to two big wins. Against Iona on Saturday, she smashed 20 kills in four sets, and also added three total blocks. With her 20th and final kill, which also sealed the deal on Marist's victory, Fergus moved up to 3rd on the program's all-time kills list. She followed that up with 13 more kills in just three sets on Sunday against Manhattan, on a .323 hitting percentage. She also tallied nine digs, falling one short of a double-double, and added in a service ace. For the week, she totaled 33 kills, 4.71 per set, and had three total blocks, 13 digs, and an ace.
Libero of the Week
Bree Long, Canisius
Fr., Temperance, MI/Bedford
Bree Long capped off the regular season in style, as the Canisius libero totaled 42 digs and nine assists over the Griffs' two wins this past weekend. The freshman started the weekend by digging 27 balls in a five-set win over Fairfield, adding on four assists. She then registered 15 digs and five assists as Canisius swept Quinnipiac in the home finale. For the weekend, Long averaged 5.25 digs per set and 1.12 assists per set.

Ella Loussia, Canisius
Fr., West Bloomfield, MI/Mercy
Ella Loussia emerged once again as an offensive force for Canisius, as the freshman tallied 31 kills in the final weekend of the regular season, along with three digs and two blocks, as the Griffs picked up two important wins in the MAAC standings. On Saturday, Loussia pounded down a career-best and team-leading 19 kills at a .319 hitting clip in the Griffs' win over Fairfield, adding on two blocks and two digs. Then, the outside hitter recorded 12 kills off a .500 hitting percentage in the sweep of Quinnipiac, also notching one dig in the win. In total, Loussia averaged 3.88 kills per set on the weekend at a .377 hitting percentage.
Co-Rookie of the Week
Morgan Romano, Rider
Fr., Oviedo, FL/Hagerty
Freshman opposite Morgan Romano had another big week for the Broncs as Rider earned the number three seed in the upcoming MAAC Championship. Romano averaged 4.25 kills per set, 2.38 digs per set and 4.50 points per set. In a five-set match against Manhattan, she racked up her 11th double-double of the year with an 18-kill, 11-dig performance. She followed that up with 16 kills and eight digs in a sweep of Saint Peter's. Versus the Peacocks, she registered a career-best hitting percentage of .667. Romano became the first player to record over 500 kills in a season in over a decade last weekend. She currently ranks third in the country in both total kills (510) and total points (576.0).
