Marshall, Fritz Earn Pepsi Zero MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors

Tyere Marshall, Rider

Marshall averaged 21.0 points and 14.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 59.1 percent (26-44) from the floor in the Broncs' 2-1 week, including wins over Columbia and unanimous America East preseason favorite Vermont. Marshall started the week with 28 points and 20 rebounds at UMass. It was the first 20-20 game for the Broncs since Jason Thompson did it three times in 2007-08. It was also the first 20-rebound game by a UMass opponent in 25 years. He then went for 25 points and 16 rebounds, including 11 points in a 25-0 Rider run to close the win over Columbia. Facing a double team most of the night against Vermont, Marshall still managed 10 points and seven rebounds in the Broncs' 72-67 Air Force Reserve Tip-Off presented by Citi Springfield Bracket Championship Game win over the Catamounts. For the year, Marshall is now averaging a team-best 16.7 points and 10.5 rebounds, while shooting 65.6 percent (42-64) from the floor.
Rookie of the Week
Jacco Fritz, Canisius
Fr., Tiel, Netherlands/ DME Academy (Fla.)
Canisius freshman Jacco Fritz posted his first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Golden Griffins defeated long-time rival St. Bonaventure 61-57 Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. Fritz's 12 points came after he went 5-for-6 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Seven of his 10 rebounds came off the offensive glass, and he also dished out a team-high three assists to go with a steal in his first career start.
