Marist’s Hurley and Monmouth’s Botha Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Marist junior John Hurley continued his dominance in the pool this week, helping the Red Foxes to a victory over MAAC rival Fairfield. Hurley competed in the 200-yard medley relay, chipping in a 27.72 time in the 100-breast portion. The Stewart Manor native swam well in both the 100-yard breast and the 200-yard breast, with times of 1:02.55 and 2:13.89, respectively.

Monmouth freshman Tahlia Botha helped the Hawks defeat Saint Francis Brooklyn and also set two new school records in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard IM, and also a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke. Botha had three individual wins, placing first in the 100-yardbreast (1:07.07), 200-yard breast (2:24.66) and 200 IM (2:12.78) and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:50.41. Botha has won 15 races so far in her freshman season.
