MAAC Announces Weekly Swimming & Diving Awards
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Sr., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Senior Justin Carey had another big day in the pool for the Broncs last week in a dual-meet win over Marist. Carey set four pool records and won four events against the Red Foxes. He set a new pool record in the 50 back (22.57) as part of the 200-medley relay team that won the event. He also finished first overall and set new pool records in the 100 back (48.80), 100 free (45.63) and the 100 fly (48.53). He currently has the top time in the MAAC in the 100 free, 50 back, 100 back and the 100 fly.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Dillon Walles, Rider
Jr., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Junior Dillon Walles continued his impressive start to the season last weekend for the Rider University men’s swimming and diving team. In a dual-meet win over Marist, Walles won both the 1M and the 3M diving events. It marked the fourth meet in a row in which he won both events. He posted a score of 300.37 in the 1M and a mark of 296.93 in the 3M.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Kylie McMahon, Rider
So., Annapolis, MD/ St. Mary’s
Sophomore Kylie McMahon had another solid day in the pool last weekend for the Broncs in a dual-meet win over conference rival Marist. McMahon won four events. She was part of the 200-medley relay quartet team that won the event. McMahon finished first overall in the 200 fly (2:08.38), 100 fly (57.24) and the 200 IM (2:11.11). She currently has the top time in the MAAC in the 200 IM, 100 fly and the 200 fly.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Esabelle Gervasio, Marist
Jr., Niskayuna, NY/ Niskayuna
Esabelle Gervasio, the reigning MAAC Diver of the Week, had another outstanding competition for Marist. She won the 1-meter dive with a score of 230.77, and then took first in the 3-meter dive later in the competition with a score of 267.60. She had 18 points on the day. Her performance qualified her for the Eastern Zone Championship.
