MAAC Announces Weekly Swimming & Diving Awards
Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Justin Carey, Rider
Sr., Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove
Senior Justin Carey continued his stellar early season for the Broncs last week at the Bucknell Invitational. Carey won three individual events for Rider at the three-day event. He finished first overall in the 100 fly (48.28), the 100 back (48.16) and the 100 free (44.88). He was also part of the 200-medley relay that won with a time of 3:19.34. He currently has the top time in the MAAC in the 100 free, 100 back and 100 fly.
Men’s Diver of the Week
Dillon Walles, Rider
Jr., The Woodlands, TX/ The Woodlands High School
Junior Dillon Walles had another dominant showing on the boards last week for the Broncs at the Bucknell Invitational. Walles won both the 1M and 3M diving events for Rider. It marked the sixth straight time that Walles has won the 3M this season and it was his fifth victory in the 1M. He posted a score of 311.10 in the 1M and also boasted a total score of 336.70 in the 3M. Both of his marks were NCAA Zone-A qualifying scores.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Sidney Judson, Marist
So., Port Jefferson, NY/ Comsewogue
Judson had an incredible performance for Marist at the H2Ounds Invitational, helping to lead Marist to a second-place finish. The Sophomore started off well, claiming second in her first individual event. The Port Jefferson Native clocked in with a time of 5:05.67 in the 500-yard free. Judson followed that up with a second-place finish in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:39.70, and a third-place finish in the 1650-yard free with a time of 17:34.69.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Esabelle Gervasio, Marist
Jr., Niskayuna, NY/ Niskayuna
Gervasio continued her outstanding season this week, being named the MAAC Female Diver of the Meet at the H2Ounds Invitational, in route to leading Marist to a 2nd place finish. The junior won both the three-meter and one-meter dives at the event, with scores of 246.20 and 261.60, respectively.
