Bobcats Receive Votes in Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll for First Time in Program History

TUCSON, Ariz. –
The Quinnipiac baseball team has received votes in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division I Preseason Poll for the first time in program history, as announced by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper on Monday, Dec. 16.
 
Quinnipiac is one of two teams from the MAAC to receive a vote in the national poll, joined by Canisius.
 
The Bobcats are coming off the best season in program history in which they won their first MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, won their first-ever NCAA Tournament game and set the program record for wins in a season with 30.
 
Quinnipiac defeated Fairfield on a wild pitch in a thrilling 13-inning game to clinch the MAAC Championship and second Division I conference championship to earn its second trip to the NCAA Tournament.
 
In the NCAA Tournament opener against No. 10 East Carolina, the Bobcats downed the Pirates, 5-4, for the first NCAA Tournament win in program history. The Bobcats also nearly defeated Campbell the following day before the Bobcats NCAA Tournament run came to an end in a rematch against ECU.
 
Quinnipiac's 2020 schedule, which will be unveiled in the coming weeks, will feature Mississippi State which is ranked No. 6 in the Collegiate Baseball Poll as well as four teams that received votes in the national poll: Florida A&M, Canisius, Bryan and Central Connecticut State.
