Player of the Week
Stella Johnson, Rider
Sr., Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic
Senior guard Stella Johnson had another standout performance for the Broncs last weekend as Rider defeated Georgetown in Washington, DC. Stella poured in a game-high 30 points thanks to knocking down 10-of-18 from the field. She also added eight rebounds, four steals, one block and one assist in the victory. It was Rider's second win over a team from the Big East this season. The Broncs are now 3-0 against high-major opponents in 2019. Stella leads the country in scoring with over 29 points per game and also leads the MAAC in steals per game. It was her third straight game with four or more steals. This is Johnson’s fifth Player of the Week honor this season.
Rookie of the Week
Emily LaPointe, Manhattan
Fr., Staten Island, NY/Staten Island Academy
LaPointe contributed 12 points, five rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist against Army on Dec. 13, helping the Jaspers to an 86-56 win. She shot nearly 42 percent from the field, while also shooting 33.3 percent from three. This is LaPointe’s third Rookie of the Week honor this season.
