MAAC Extends Commissioner Ensor Through 2022
Edison, N.J. (Dec. 18, 2019) – Commissioner Rich Ensor has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in his post through June of 2022, as announced by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today.
A proven leader in college athletics for over three decades, Ensor was named the third commissioner of the MAAC in August 1988.
“Rich Ensor has done an outstanding job leading the MAAC for the past three decades, and I am very confident in his ability to continue providing excellent vision and management over the next several years,” said Gregory G. Dell’Omo, Ph.D., President of Rider University and current President of the MAAC Council of Presidents. “Rich has continually worked to raise the profile of our institutions, while steadily strengthening our athletic conference both regionally and nationally. He is a strong commissioner, and I am very pleased he will continue providing his dedication and commitment to the MAAC.”
Under his leadership, the league has secured a stable membership base, expanded the number of championships conducted and developed an extensive marketing program cemented with broadcast agreements with ESPN that features over 450 broadcasts this year on ESPN3 and ESPN+.
Ensor has secured championship venues such as Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. In 2020, the MAAC will also host its first esports regular season competition and postseason championships in four games at the Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Theater in Atlantic City, New Jersey in partnership with the Electronic Gaming Federation.
“I am appreciative of the contract extension granted me by the MAAC Council of Presidents and their continued support of my efforts to make the MAAC a leader in academic and athletic excellence,” said Ensor. “I am proud to manage the tools and programming that allow the conference’s student-athletes and coaches to succeed and look forward to continuing in my role through 2022.”
Now in his 32
