Harried, Pickett Collect Last Pepsi Zero MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards of 2019

Jalen Pickett, Siena

MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Jalen Pickett produced a tremendous all-around 2-0 week for the Saints, averaging 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks in victories over Canisius and Holy Cross. Pickett shot 58% from the field including 46% from three, and committed just one turnover - as opposed to his 11 assists - in 77 total minutes running the point. He tied a season-high with 22 points - 19 of which came in the second half - as he helped Siena rally from a 13-point deficit to win its MAAC opener over Canisius. He added six rebounds, three steals and five assists, none bigger than setting up the game-winning three by Elijah Burns with 7.4 seconds to go. Pickett concluded the week with a 21-point, six-rebound, six-assist performance in a victory over Holy Cross. He shot 9-13 from the floor and didn't commit a turnover in 38 minutes at the point.
Rookie of the Week
Armon Harried, Canisius

Canisius freshman Armon Harried scored eight points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds in the Golden Griffins' 73-72 road loss at Siena on Dec. 23. All nine of Harried's rebounds came off the defensive glass, and he also recorded three steals in the loss to the Saints. With Harried’s selection, Canisius has now been represented in the MAAC weekly awards on four different occasions so far this season.
