Niagara’s Melchor and Quinnipiac’s Edwards Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Edgar Melchor has had a strong start to the swimming season. In the Purple Eagles’ win over Youngstown State, Melchor was a double winner, placing first in the 200 IM and the 100 breast. In Niagara’s first meet of the season against Binghamton, Melchor took second place in the 100 breast, 200 breast and 100 fly. He placed second in the 100 breast in a tri-meet with Colgate and Canisius. Melchor maintains a grade point average of 3.29 as an accounting major.

Women’s Basketball
Shaq Edwards scored 19 points against Harvard on Saturday, coming up just one point short of tying her career high. The junior is averaging 12 points a game thanks to four double-digit efforts so far this season and is shooting 49 percent from the field. The Hartford, Connecticut native is also averaging two rebounds, steals, and assists per game.
