MONMOUTH'S KNAUB RECOGNIZED AS COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
AUSTIN, Texas – Monmouth University women's soccer senior goalkeeper Amanda Knaub was named to the 2019 Academic All-America® Division I Women's Soccer Second Team.
College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) membership votes on the Academic All-America Teams, which includes recipients of CoSIDA Academic All-District awards. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
"It is a tremendous accomplishment for Amanda to be recognized on the national stage," head coach Krissy Turner said. "She has been the consummate student-athlete since the minute she stepped on campus here at Monmouth."
Knaub, a CoSIDA Academic All-District II selection was named the MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year for the second time in her career after a terrific season in goal for Monmouth. Knaub led the nation in goals allowed (4), goals-against average (0.202), save percentage (0.923) and her 15 shutouts rank second in the NCAA.
A Criminal Justice major, Knaub owns a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average. Last season Knaub was named to the NSCAA/USC All-Region Scholar Team and is a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® advanced to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot, and Knaub was voted All-America from that list.
