2019 NCAA Volleyball Championship – First Round

Fairfield University (24-6, 17-1 MAAC) fell 3-0 to seventh seeded University of Minnesota (24-5, 17-3 Big Ten) in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Volleyball Tournament. The Stags, winners of the 2019 MAAC Volleyball Championship, made their MAAC record 11th NCAA Tournament appearance. Fairfield has represented the MAAC in the postseason in four of the last five years.
 
Fairfield Notes
  • The Stags jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first set, with Manuela Nicolini recording two aces in a 5-0 run. Fairfield would drop the first set 25-13.
  • The Stags would drop the next two sets 25-14 and 25-11.
  • Fairfield led early in both of the first two sets, forcing the Gophers to fight back.
  • Fairfield recorded six service aces throughout the match. Manuela Nicolini and Mayda Garcia each recorded two while Morgan Doll and Luci Albertson both picked up one each.
  • Garcia led the team with seven kills and 9.0 points.
  • Doll and Sonja Radulovic led the Stags with 14 and 10 kills, respectively.
