Monmouth Men's Track & Field Repeats as MAAC Indoor Champions
NEW YORK, NY – The Monmouth University men’s track and field team repeated as MAAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Champions. The Hawks defended their title from a season ago at The New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory after two days of competition.
Monmouth totaled 271.5 points to claim the program’s fifth title.

Day 2 Highlights
- Monmouth’s Corey Murphy shattered the previous men’s shot put record of 19.40m set in 2007 with distance 19.66m on his final throw. Murphy broke the previous record on his fifth attempt with a distance of 19.50m. His throw beat second place by almost two meters.
- Khalid Slocum of Monmouth ran a time of 21.45 in the men’s 200m dash, breaking the previous record of 21.46 set in 2006 by a mere 1/100th of a second.
- Monmouth teammates Darius Howe and Michael Pepper placed first and second respectively in the men’s triple jump. Howe, who jumped 15.22m, edged Pepper by only .02m.
- Rider closed the day with a win in the 4x400m relay by over three seconds.
- Jordan Brannan of Iona College won the 3000m after claiming the 5000m on Saturday. Brannan won the 3000m by four seconds and collected Track Most Outstanding Performer.
- In the 60m hurdles, second and fourth place were decided by thousandths of a second. Place one through five in the 60m dash were separated by 0.15 of second.
- The standings stayed nearly the same from Saturday to Sunday, as Saint Peter’s University was the lone team to change spots on Sunday.
