EDISON, NJ - For the first time, the MAAC and five of its member institutions will produce games for broadcast on ESPN at the MAAC Basketball Championships. MAAC institutions also announced their spring production schedules.

The MAAC plus Canisius College, Iona College, Marist College, Monmouth University, and Rider University will produce the first 14 games of the championship. The 14 games cover the first round and quarterfinals for both the men's and women's championship. All games being produced by the MAAC and member schools will be done from Rider’s production truck, which Rider will bring up to Albany for the championships at the Times Union Center.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for student production personnel to expand their resumes by assisting in the broadcasts of these men’s and women’s basketball games on ESPN3,” noted MAAC Commissioner Rich Ensor. “I want to thank Rider University for providing the production truck and commend MAAC Director of New Media Video Operations Joe Ruggiero on coordinating the combined efforts of the arena, member schools and MAAC to develop this educational opportunity for our students.”

The entire 2019 MAAC Basketball Championship will be on the ESPN family of networks. The first and quarterfinal rounds of both the men's and women's championships will be on ESPN3. The semifinals for the women will also be on ESPN3 with Monday's championship game tipping at 2:30 p.m. on ESPNU. One men's semifinal will air live on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m. The other semifinal will air on ESPN3 and then ESPNU after the other semifinal. The men's championship game will be on ESPN2 on Monday night at 9 p.m.

During the 2019 spring season, MAAC institutions will broadcast 63 games on either ESPN3 or ESPN+. Five schools will produce the 63 contests; Canisius College, Fairfield University, Iona College, Monmouth University, and Rider University.

Twenty-three softball games, 18 women's lacrosse games, 14 baseball games, seven men's lacrosse contests, and one track & field event make up the 63 events. All events are available for replay on the ESPN app or the MAAC ESPN Channel.

Ensor continued, “The growth of the MAAC member schools’ productions on ESPN3 and ESPN+ is extraordinary with over 420 broadcasts scheduled for this school year. Kudos to the member schools for this expansion of the network package and I look forward to further growth next year when all 11 MAAC schools will have school production facilities up and running.”

In the second year of an eight-year agreement with ESPN, the MAAC will look to produce more than 400 events during the 2018-19 academic year. By the 2019-20 academic year, all 11 MAAC institutions will be equipped with production facilities that will allow them to deliver live events on ESPN+ and ESPN3.
