Kearley and Ebube Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Junior Julia Kearley of the Iona College indoor track & field program recently competed in the Dr. Sander’s Columbia Challenge in a tune-up for the upcoming 2019 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. Kearley excelled in the 3,000-meter race, running a personal best time of 9:43.36. Her time is the fastest in the MAAC this season. She leads three Gaels who rank inside the top-10 in the 3K event; senior Jessica Scheriff has the third fastest time of 9:47.39 and junior Hannah Molloy crossed the finish line in 10:04.97.
The Gaels have one final event before the MAAC Championships. The Maroon & Gold travel to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, MA this upcoming weekend. The gathering is being aired live by FloTrack.

Ebube averaged 9.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while drawing five charges in helping lead Manhattan to a perfect 2-0 week. In the Jaspers' 62-49 win over Fairfield, Ebube scored a career-high 15 points with eight rebounds. He added four points, two rebounds and a block in the Jaspers' 64-50 victory over Saint Peter's. Ebube is averaging 4.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game on the year and has drawn 18 offensive fouls.
