Marist’s Mehalick and Manhattan’s Kaishian and Burns Named MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards Winners
Offensive Player of the Week
Samantha Mehalick, Marist
Jr., North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick Township
Mehalick paced the offense for Marist, scoring nine goals on the week. She was a perfect 6-for-6 on free position shots and did not turn over the ball once. Her goal in the last four minutes against La Salle sealed the win.
Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Kaishian, Manhattan
Sr., Yorktown, NY/Yorktown
Kaishian was the highlight of Manhattan's stifling defense in a 2-0 week where the Jaspers allowed the fewest goals of any MAAC team. She tracked down seven ground balls, caused a turnover and controlled two draws in a 7-4 win over CCSU, where the Blue Devils had 18 turnovers and 16 shots. Kaishian followed it up with five ground balls, a caused turnover and a draw control in the team’s 13-4 victory over Sacred Heart, where the Pioneers had just 14 shots and 13 turnovers. The tri-captain leads Manhattan this year in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers.

Burns led the Jaspers in points during their 2-0 week. She added a goal and three assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal, two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the 7-4 win over CCSU.
