Hankins and McGill Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Courtney Hankins has helped the Stags softball team start the 2019 season with an 8-3 record by hitting a team-high four home runs with a team-best 15 RBI. She has a hit and an RBI in eight of her 11 appearances this year, highlighted by her performance against Bethune-Cookman which included two homers and four RBI. She has 18 career home runs with 163 hits in 163 career games. She was named the 2019 MAAC Preseason Player of the Year after collecting the MAAC Player of the Year and All-MAAC honors following the 2018 season. Hankins earned a berth to the MAAC All-Academic team in 2017 and 2018 as a psychology major.

McGill helped Iona to its fourth consecutive MAAC Championship, defeating Monmouth 81-60 on Monday night. McGill became the first player ever to win four MAAC Championship titles. His 15.3 points per game and 2.3 steals per game average helped him garner the tournament honor of Most Valuable Player. He finished his career with a perfect 12-0 record in MAAC Championship games.
