No. 11 Seed Quinnipiac to Play No. 6 Seed South Dakota State in First Round of Women's NCAA Tournament

EDISON, NJ – The 2019 MAAC Champions, Quinnipiac University (26-6), will face South Dakota State (26-6) in the First Round of the 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.
 
The 11th-seeded Bobcats will take on the 6th-seeded Jackrabbits on Saturday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. in Syracuse, New York.
 
South Dakota State is coming off its ninth Summit League Championship title, where it defeated South Dakota 83-71. The Jackrabbits were ranked 23rd in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll and received votes in the latest AP Poll.
 
Quinnipiac won its third straight MAAC Championship and heads back to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth time in seven seasons. The Bobcats have gone 18-0 in MAAC play the last two seasons; their last MAAC loss came during the 2016-17 campaign. The team most recently beat Marist College 81-51 in the MAAC Championship Game. The 30-point margin is the largest in MAAC Women’s Championship Game history.
 
Senior forward Jen Fay was named the Most Valuable Player of the MAAC Championship, averaging 16.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and three steals. In the championship game, Fay recorded 25 points while shooting five-of-eight from beyond the arc. Fay was joined on the MAAC All-Championship Team by senior forward Paula Strautmane and senior guard/forward Aryn McClure.
