Quinnipiac’s Cuomo and DiMuccio, and Detroit Mercy’s Shamblin Named MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Players of the Week
Offensive Player of the Week
Foster Cuomo, Quinnipiac
Sr., Oakville, Ontario/IMG Academy (FL)
Cuomo had an incredible week for the Bobcats, recording nine goals and four assists for 13 total points in two Quinnipiac wins. He first tied program single-game record with 10 total points on March 19, scoring seven goals to go along with three assists in the Bobcats thrilling OT win over Hartford. Cuomo then led the way with three goals and one assist for four points in QU’s win over St. Bonaventure on March 23. The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year has 13 goals and 17 points in his first three games this season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Logan Shamblin, Detroit Mercy
So., Washington Twp., MI/Troy
Shamblin led a dominating Titan defensive performance finishing with 15 saves and tallying a season-high 7 ground balls and a career-best 3 caused turnovers. He posted a 78.9 save percentage and helped Detroit Mercy shut Monmouth out in the second period and allow just 1 goal in the first and third to help the red, white and blue move to 2-1 on the MAAC.
Rookie of the Week
Nick DiMuccio, Quinnipiac
Fr., Seekonk, MA/La Salle Academy
The freshman made an impressive 26 total saves over two Quinnipiac wins this past week, earning two more wins. He made a season-high 18 stops in the Bobcats OT win over Hartford on Tuesday, which is the second-highest single-game total of any MAAC player this year. DiMuccio has recorded double-digit save totals in all but one game this year.
