Cortes and Brash Named Pepsi Zero MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Cortes was a defensive force for the Hawks in their 2-0 week, earning wins over CCSU and Niagara. The senior compiled a career-high nine ground balls and five caused turnovers while allowing Central Connecticut State just three goals on Wednesday. She followed that up with a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover in the Hawks’ win over Niagara. Cortes currently leads the team in ground balls and is second in caused turnovers. Monmouth is currently atop the MAAC standings with a 7-3 record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. Three-year starter was a member of the IWLCA Academic Honor Squad as a junior and a two-time member of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll.
Matthew Brash

Niagara University
Brash has had a great season on the mound so far for the Purple Eagles. He leads the Niagara pitching staff in strikeouts with 53 in 36.0 innings pitched. Brash threw his first career complete game shutout in Niagara’s win over Rider on Saturday, March 23. Overall this season, Brash is holding batters to a .191 average and has an ERA of 3.00.
Brash, a sport management major, also excels in the classroom, maintaining a GPA of 3.67.
