No. 9 Fairfield used a 27-point first quarter to edge Niagara 74-69 to move onto the quarterfinals of the 2019 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship. The Stags were led by freshman Casey Foley who recorded 17 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

- Will play No. 1 Quinnipiac University Friday, March 8 at 1:00 p.m.
- Fairfield scored 27 points in the first quarter, the most points to open a game for the Stags this season
- The team shot 56.3-percent in the first half
- Led the entire game up until the 6:20 mark in the fourth quarter, where Niagara took their first lead
- Stags win the season series against the Purple Eagles 2-1

- The Purple Eagles cut a 16-point deficit to four points entering the fourth quarter, the team struck their first lead with 6:20 remaining in the game
- Jai Moore led the Purple Eagles with 25 points
- Adila Gathers grabbed seven boards, leading the team
- Moore, Gathers, Maggie McIntyre, and Emerald Ekpiteta all scored in double-digits

No. 10 Iona took care of No. 7 Siena thanks to some big production from their starting freshmen. Shyan Mwai and Juana Camilion combined for 26 of the Gaels’ 39 second half points to lead them over the Saints in the opening round.
Iona Notes
- Will play No. 2 Rider University Friday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m.
- The Gaels went on a 20-2 run to close the half and take an eight-point lead over the Saints
- Juana Camilion posted a team high 26 points and came one rebound short of a double-double
- The Gaels were able to get revenge after being swept by the Saints in the regular season
Siena Notes
- Siena was led by Aaliyah Jones, who put up 18 points and collected five rebounds
- The Saints struggled from beyond the arc, shooting only 13-percent in the first half and 28-percent overall
- Iona’s 20-2 run erased a 10 point lead the Saints built in the opening stages of the game

No. 6 Manhattan took the final women’s victory of the day in their win over No. 11 Saint Peter’s. The Jaspers grabbed an early lead and never looked back, never trailing once throughout the game. Nine different players recorded points for the Jaspers in the win.
Manhattan Notes
- Will play No. 3 Marist College Saturday, March 6 at 12:00 p.m.
- The Jaspers started the second quarter with a 16-0 run to build their lead to 31-12
- The first half ended with seven different players scoring for the Jaspers, the game ended with nine players recording at least one point
- There was no point in the game where Manhattan trailed
Saint Peter’s Notes
- MAAC All-Rookie selection and team scoring leader Briyanah Richardson was held scoreless in the first half
- Zoe Pero led the team in rebounds with 10
- The team shot only 25-percent from the field throughout the game
The MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships will take place March 7-11 at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. The women’s first round, quarterfinal, and semifinal games will all be aired on ESPN3. The championship game is set for Monday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m. and will be aired on ESPNU.
